Accessibility

Our commitment
We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using a keyboard, a screen reader, or with a preference for reduced motion. We're aiming for WCAG 2.1 AA as a working standard, and treat this as ongoing work rather than a box we've ticked once.
What we've done
- Every button, link and form field is reachable and operable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
- The contact form has real, programmatically-associated labels for every field (not just placeholder text), a status message that's announced to screen readers when you submit it, and native HTML validation on required fields.
- Images carry descriptive alt text, and icon-only buttons (like the carousel's previous/next arrows) have an aria-label.
- Decorative motion — the hero's reveal animation, the rotating headline word, hover effects, scroll-triggered fades — is disabled site-wide for anyone with "reduce motion" set at the OS level.
- Text and background colours are chosen for contrast against this site's dark theme.
Known limitations
We're aware of a couple of gaps we haven't closed yet:
- The draggable progress bar under the "Selected Work" carousel is operable by mouse and touch, but not yet by keyboard — the carousel's arrow buttons are the accessible way to move through it for now.
- Some of the "Selected Work" images are decorative photography without a dedicated audio/text alternative to the imagery itself, beyond their alt text.
If either of these — or anything else — gets in your way, we'd genuinely like to know. See "Feedback" below.
Third-party content
This site loads web fonts from Google Fonts and Fontshare; we don't control their accessibility beyond how we apply them here.
Feedback
If you hit an accessibility barrier anywhere on this site, email launch@refynelabs.co.uk with what you were trying to do and what happened — we'll get back to you and look at fixing it.
